ELLE DECOR

Nov 01 2024
Magazine

A fashion-savvy home decorating magazine for the new generation of design professionals and consumers who know exactly what they want, ELLE DECOR covers fashionable and inspirational products that bring couture chic to every room of your home.

THE CITIES ISSUE

A FINE VINE • This season, bid adieu to pumpkin spice and embrace mood-setting floral and botanical motifs cast in glass, metal, and resin.

GLOBAL ENTRIES • Western European cities like Milan, Paris, and Copenhagen are rightly considered capitals of interior design, but there’s so much beautiful and inspiring work being produced beyond those hubs as well. Here are a few standouts from our favorite design brands around the world.

THE SHAPE OF WATER • The pieces in Boucheron’s new Or Bleu high-jewelry collection weren’t so much designed by creative director Claire Choisne as they were divined from the raw, otherworldly topography of Iceland. “I wanted to show the power of water,” Choisne says, “but also acknowledge that it needs to be protected.” Her time among the Nordic country’s frosty floes inspired this pair of pendant earrings, crafted from grand antique marble and paved with diamonds. Requiring more than 100 hours of craftsmanship, they embody the polish, precision, and ethereal beauty that is Boucheron’s signature.

GONE PLATINUM • Rolex is most often associated with its iconic tool watches: The Submariner helps divers monitor oxygen consumption; the Daytona allows drivers to measure lap intervals; the GMT tracks multiple time zones for travelers. But the Swiss luxury brand also excels at designing elegant and decidedly less rugged timepieces meant to make a statement under the cuff of a dress shirt rather than at the top of Mount Everest. The new 1908—named for the year Rolex was founded—features a 39mm platinum case, an icy blue rice-grain dial, a leather strap, and a small seconds subdial. With a self-winding movement and high legibility, it shows that form still follows function, even in a tuxedo.

CURTAIN RAISER • ELLE DECOR partners with designers Christine and John Gachot to refresh an iconic lounge at a New York institution, the Metropolitan Opera House.

THE AGENDA • What’s shaping our tastes and topping our to-do lists this month.

CORDELIA DE CASTELLANE • The Paris-based artistic director of Dior Maison shares eight things that bring her joy and keep her inspired.

THE JOY OF KØKKEN • In Brooklyn, a writer transforms her kitchen into a space of warmth and connection, blending personal memories with Scandinavian design.

WHAT IF THE KITCHEN COULD • Everything you need to know about how the heart of your home should look—and cook—now.

CITY OF DREAMS • For every metropolis, there’s a fantasy of what makes a perfect home. New York City? The sky is the limit—with views to match. Miami? Dance the night away without ever leaving tu casa. From Beverly Hills to Houston, the houses in this issue are as urbane as they are ideally suited to their surroundings. Each one is the talk of the town.

EYE IN THE SKY • How do you cozy up a Manhattan high-rise? Call designers Hendricks Churchill.

Mic Drop • For former talk radio star Tom Joyner, Studio Roda creates an oceanfront pleasure pad with out-of-sight views and disco-era glamour.

Play It Cool • In balmy Texas, Ashe Leandro brings urbane style and a chill vibe to a home in a historic district.

SIZED TO FIT • Designer Nannette Brown reimagines a new-build apartment with unexpected depth, character, and texture.

MORE, PLEASE • Eric Hughes joins forces with Standard Architecture to transform two neighboring homes into a sprawling family compound.
