Alison Bliss shares her smart, sexy, contemporary voice in this new rom-com about a curvaceous heroine falling for her personal trainer—perfect for fans of Olivia Dade and Kate Stayman-London.
The course of true love was never supposed to start on a stair climber...

Preslee Owens has never worked out in a gym before. Like truly never. Until today. As she struggles to stay upright on the stair climber, she accidentally broadcasts a vlog that lets complete strangers—and even worse, people in her own small town—witness the hilarious start to her fitness journey. To her surprise and mortification, viewers love it.

The positive reaction leaves Preslee with no choice but to return—and the discovery that her unrequited crush, Josh, works out in the same gym is a big bonus. It also helps that her new personal trainer is making sure she doesn't kill herself in the process. In fact, Adam has even offered to pretend to be her boyfriend to help make Josh a little jealous.

Having Adam cheering her on brings out a strength and confidence Preslee barely recognizes in herself. And soon she's enjoying being his fake girlfriend waaay too much. But will her newfound courage allow her to face her biggest fear yet and seize the life she truly wants?

Pairing a plus-size heroine with a hunky personal trainer who thinks she’s ravishingly beautiful whether she loses an ounce or not, Bliss’s heartwarming fourth Perfect Fit rom-com (after More to Love) proves that “sexy isn’t a size.” Antiques dealer Preslee Owens has just been told she’s prediabetic and musters up the courage to enter Granite, Tex.’s only gym, the Body Shop. Though she’s convinced she’ll be mocked, owner Adam Caldwell is instantly attracted to her. Unaware of Preslee’s insecurities, Adam makes an innocent bet with his best friend, Kurt, about whether he’ll be able to help Preslee reach her fitness goals. As they begin training and grow closer, he realizes how much this action could potentially hurt her—but it’s too late, and after Preslee learns about the bet, Adam faces an uphill battle to prove his feelings for her are true. Bliss makes Preslee’s body image issues both nuanced and instantly recognizable, and readers who’ve dealt with similar insecurities will feel seen. A heart-wrenching subplot about her search for her birth mother will further cement readers’ desire to see her achieve the love she deserves. Luckily, an uncommonly sensitive hero is on hand to provide support. This smart, tender rom-com will linger long in readers’ minds. Agent: Andrea Somberg, Harvey Klinger.

After her doctor delivers less-than-stellar news about her health, Preslee Owens vows to lose weight and get in shape, hoping to also catch the eye of the good-looking employee at her father's antique shop. When her first attempt at using the gym ends up in a viral video, Preslee is ready to throw in the towel. Gym owner and personal trainer Adam convinces her to stick with the plan. Unbeknown to the other, the two develop romantic feelings as they work out together. Erin Bennett and Will Collyer both narrate this slow-burn contemporary romance. Especially notable are their distinctive character portrayals. Their expressive performances draw and engage listeners into the tale. VERDICT Fans of Kate Stayman-London and Olivia Dade will appreciate this.--Amanda L. S. Murphy
