成吉思汗即元太祖，蒙古国的创建者。蒙古乞颜部人，名铁木 真，贵族也速该之子。九岁时，父亲也速该被塔塔尔人毒死，部众 离散。成年后，先后依附克烈部主王汗、札答阑部主札木合，逐渐 招集父亲旧部。后与王汗联合击败札木合的各部联军.乘胜灭塔塔 尔，统一蒙古各部。1206年，建立起统一的大蒙古国.即大汗位，号 成吉思汗。1211年，成吉思汗大举攻金，屡败大金，攻占中都。1219年， 攻灭西域霸主花剌子模。1226年，再攻西夏。次年，在西夏灭亡前 夕，成吉思汗病逝于六盘山。
