Part I covers his growth experience as a young man, his participation in the Revolution of 1911 and the Constitutional Protection Movement, his joining of Whampoa and north expedition, his ten-year's rule in Nanjing, his policy of "Resisting Foreign Aggression after Stabilizing the Country" after the "Mukden Incident" and his constant compromise and concession; Part II makes an account of the eight years of War of Resistance against Japan, full-scale civil war, retreating to Taiwan, and handing over power to Chiang Ching-kuo and other historical events.)
